A group of residents get out to welcome new residents to the neighborhood with a welcome package several times a year. The package typically includes information for local businesses, city contact information, recent newsletter or meeting notes, and a special gift. Great American Cleanup Day
Generally in April, a nationwide day of picking up trash and litter. Help give the neighborhood (and city) a spring cleaning by picking up along the roads. Gloves and trash bags distributed in the morning at the school, when supplies are available.
Potluck Dinner
The May meeting is dedicated to a social time to get together and enjoy good food. Invite your neighbors to bring their families and yours with a side dish to share. Meat provided by neighborhood association. Often attended by the mayor, city councilmen, fire department and police department when available.
Neighborhood Yard Sale
Annual event, generally the first part of June on a Saturday. Fee of $5 to help with advertising with Peoria Journal Star. Residents are welcome to set up Friday as well and make the most of the weekend. Maps of those participating may be made available.
National Night Out Against Crime
National event to be out and show...... Each neighborhood is encouraged to sponsor an evening of fun. Fire Department, Police Department and AMT always stop by for a visit and allow children to ask questions and explore the equipment. An opportunity to visit and get to know other fellow residents and families. Games and prizes for the kids (determined by participation)!
Neighborhood Leadership Awards Banquet
Annual event, typically the first part of November. Enjoy an evening with dinner, and a guest speaker with residents from all over Peoria. Tickets are typically $25 per person or a table of 10 for $250.
Salvation Army Volunteering
If you would like to take some time and ring the bell then this is the event for you! We stake out at Northwoods Mall (inside) for a few hours in December and raise money for a good cause!
